Currently president and CEO of the Center for Coastal Studies in Provincetown, Rich Delaney is co-founder of the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative and a member of the group’s board of directors. Prior to heading up the CCS, Delaney served as assistant secretary of environmental affairs in Massachusetts, chaired the Coastal States Organization and founded the Urban Harbors Institute at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He participated in the Paris climate accord meetings in 2015, at which he delved into the nexus between oceans and climate change. That experience led to co-founding the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative. He urges a multi-sector approach to addressing climate change, but says individuals, especially those in vulnerable places like Cape Cod, have an obligation to do everything they can, from recycling to buying electric vehicles, to minimize climate change’s impact.
