Recently retired after 20 years as rector at St. Christopher’s Church in Chatham, Brian McGurk has long been involved in social justice and environmental issues. He is currently co-chair of the faith community environmental network and a member of the Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative. To McGurk, taking care of the earth is a sacred task. He describes how scripture guides his action and likens the task of addressing climate change to the Civil Rights movement, a moral imperative of leaving a legacy of a healthy planet to future generations.
